Escape To Zion 2024
Wrapped in the glow of red canyon energy, our 2024 Escape to Zion Yoga and
Adventure Retreat unfolded into a unforgettable journey through the four elements.
Starting with the earth element only made sense as our 23 retreats traveled the earth
from near and far to settle into the thoughtfully crafted, private Nama-Stay Retreat
Center in Springdale, Utah.
After meeting each other at our welcome social hour, we enjoy the first of many
delicious meals prepared by Chef Shelley. (We are talking really delicious. The kind of
food you take pictures of and tell your family back home about!)
Our first practice that first evening was fittingly grounding. We settled into the small, yet
magical corner of the earth we would call home for the next few days with a yin practice
in the most serene yoga space that offered views of the canyons and the stars.
Day two was all about air. Following our morning journaling, mindfulness and slow flow
practice, there was excitement and energy in the air as we headed out on e-bike, hiking
or canyoneering adventures.
From feeling the wind in our faces on the bike ride and taking a deep breath in and out
before that first step down the canyon wall when repelling, air was our guide that never
left us. It was also our focus for a very special connected breathwork workshop that
afternoon.
Of course, day three focused water.
Day three was the Narrows hike – a hike that combined the beauty of this earth and
took our breath away as we rounded each bend while emersed in the water. After
renting gear in town, we took the National Park shuttle up the very last stop. After a mile
walk that took us to the river’s edge, we started a half day hike done mainly IN the river
that…changed us.
We stopped along the way to share our walking meditation thoughts, enjoy lunch and
take pictures that didn’t do the views justice. Once back at Nama-Stay, we enjoyed a
soothing sound bath, enjoyed a visit from a family of deer and dined on yet another
delicious catered meal.
Fire was the last element on our last day. We gathered a final time to practice yoga and
share what our time away from our everyday lives had ignited in us.
Each day of our escape in Zion offered new insights and opportunities to awaken the
senses. Through playful and intentional movement, healthy and hearty family-style
meals and outdoor adventures, a universal awareness was unlocked within the group.
We can’t wait to go back again.
